Thane: Many were rendered jobless by COVID-19 in the last one year while some lost all their savings in the treatment in private hospitals.
However, Rajkant Patil, a resident of Diwa in Maharashtra, was in for a pleasant surprise when he returned home after defeating COVID.
The amount of Rs 5 crore was waiting for him as he won a lottery.
In what would seem like a story from a film, businessman Rajkant Patil won a lottery of Rs 5 crore after returning home from the hospital.
Patil lives with his mother, wife and two children. He had tested positive for COVID a few days back and was therefore admitted to a hospital. When he returned home after the recovery, he got a message from the 'Dear lottery company.'
He was surprised to see the message and ignored it as he was recovering from post-COVID weakness.
However, he started getting calls from the company. After ignoring it for some time he finally got connected to them. He was on cloud nine with the news the company gave him.
They told Patil he had won a lottery of Rs 5 crore. Patil could not believe it and thought it was a fake call.
The possibility of it being fraud made Patil recheck the news. His wife and brother-in-law enquired about it and assured him it was true.
Patil said he was involved in some social projects through women self-help groups and would spend a part of the amount he won to help out COVID patients.
He would seek the guidance of Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde and decide how to he could contribute to social welfare.
