Vasai: A sailor was rescued by the Indian Coast Guard from a suspicious boat spotted in Bhuigaon beach in Vasai on Friday. The search operation was launched by Vasai police and Coast Guard on Friday morning. Stranded for 26 hours, the man was rescued through a rope dropped down from a helicopter by ICG.
Kalyanrao Karpe, Senior Inspector of Police said that the owner of the boat was identified and rescued man was identified as Rafik Sheikh.
The boat, spotted by villagers on Thursday had strayed from the Uttan sea of Naigav and was stuck in the rocky part of Bhuigaon sea. Villagers panicked as the boat and its occupants were unknown to them. As the boat was found in rocky area, it raised alarm in the area.
