Mumbai: As the concerns mount over the rise in corona cases in Haridwar during the Kumbh Mela, Mayor Kishori Pednekar informed that people coming from the religious event will be quarantined to prevent further spread of corona. The mayor has also criticized the devotees of Kumbh Mela, saying that they'll spread corona like prasad everywhere.

Quarantine at your own expense

Corona patients have been found in large numbers during Kumbh Mela. Mayor Pednekar informed that if such devotees come to Mumbai, they will be quarantined at their own expense as there is a possibility of corona infection in the people who come in contact with them. The mayor has also criticized the devotees of Kumbh Mela for spreading the virus-like prasad to everyone else. Kishori Pednekar has also accused the BJP of inciting these people.

Lockdown

"The corona pandemic is holding Mumbai city by a thread. Even now, the citizens are crowding in large numbers. We are here to take care of Mumbaikars. The number of beds has been increased from 19,000 to 25,000. As well as 6 jumbo centres have been set up. Facilities have become inadequate as the number of patients has increased," Pednekar added.

Shortage of oxygen has been noticed. Immediately after that, patients have been shifted to other hospitals and covid centres, Mumbaikars have never experienced such things. Now all the facilities are in short supply. So, I join hands and request, please don't go out of the house, this is why the mayor has appealed to the citizens to consider whether they want lockdown anymore, Pednekar added.
