Pune (Maharashtra): As many as five inmates escaped from the temporary facility of Yerawada Central Jail in Maharashtra's Pune on Thursday.
According to an official, the inmates escaped the temporary facility in the early hours of today after breaking the window bars.
The inmates were lodged at a temporary jail in view of the coronavirus pandemic. Recently arrested inmates have been lodged at the temporary facility of the Yerawada jail since last month to avoid spread of the virus inside the prison.
However, this is not the first time that inmates have escaped from a temporary facility in Yerawada.
Earlier in June, two inmates escaped from the temporary facility of the jail by cutting bars of a toilet.
The inmates were lodged at a hostel of the state social justice department which has been converted into a temporary jail.
