Urmila Matondkar officially joins Shiv Sena; Greets Yogi with 'Jai Maharashtra'

After joining the party, the actress tied Shiv Bandhan at Matoshri residence in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Rashmi Thackeray and Mayor Kishori Pednekar. She said 'Jai Maharashtra' when Yogi Adityanath's upcoming visit to meet Bollywood artists. Yogi has been keen on shifting Bollywood to Noida.

Mumbai: Actress Urmila Matondkar, who contested Lok Sabha elections from Congress, left the party after the elections and joined Shiv Sena today. Urmila tied Shiv bandhan at Matoshri in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Rashmi Thackeray and Mayor Kishori Pednekar. Urmila Matondkar's name has been sent to the Governor for the Legislative Council.

After joining Shiv Sena, a separate press conference was organized for Urmila Matondkar. Speaking to media, she said that a lot has been said about Kangana so far. I don't want to comment on it. Just a few people do not represent Bollywood. This issue does not need to be taken very seriously. There is a conspiracy of some to discredit Bollywood. She also added that she will stand for Bollywood no matter what.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is keen on preparing to shift Bollywood in Noida. He is trying to make Hindi movies in Uttar Pradesh. For this, Yogi will come to Mumbai tomorrow and meet some artists. Speaking on the issue, Urmila Matondkar said that 'Mumbai is the blood of Bollywood'. If Yogi Adityanath is coming to Mumbai to visit artists, 'Jai Maharashtra'.

The state government has done well even during the Covid period. The actress has joined Shiv Sena as an activist. She added that she would accept the responsibility given by Uddhav Thackeray to expand the party.

Urmila Matondkar had contested the 2019 elections from Mumbai North constituency on a Congress ticket. However, he had to face defeat from BJP's Gopal Shetty. She had resigned from her Congress membership after the election. Meanwhile, after a year away from politics, she will be active in politics once again.

Urmila Matondkar is a part of Shiv Sena and will join the party, Sanjay Raut had told reporters. There had been talk for several days that she would join the Shiv Sena. She was also scheduled to enter on Monday (November 30). However, today was the day that she officially joined the party. The list of 12 names to be appointed to the Legislative Council was handed over to Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on behalf of the Mahavikas Aghadi government. Shiv Sena has nominated Urmila Matondkar for one of these seats.

Among the 12 names in the Legislative Council are Sachin Sawant, Rajni Patil, Muzaffar Hussain and Aniruddha Vanage from the Congress, while Eknath Khadse, Raju Shetty, Yashpal Bhinge, Anand Shinde from the NCP and Urmila Matondkar, Nitin Bangude Patil, Vijay Karanjkar and Chandrakant Raghuvanshi from the Shiv Sena are being nominated.
