Bhaskar Jadhav's statement over Assembly Speaker seat triggers debate

Balasaheb Thorat from the MVA government said that the view of Bhaskar Jadhav about the Assembly Speaker is personal.

Mumbai: A debate is going on in Maharashtra over the Assembly Speaker seat after Shiv Sena's Bhaskar Jadhav said that after his performance in the two-day session, all three parties in the MVA felt that he would do well if he became the Assembly Speaker. But congress minister Balasaheb Thorat said that this is the personal view of Bhaskar Jadhav and tried to bring the curtain down on the issue.

Sena Should not leave ministry for the Assembly Speaker seat: Bhaskar Jadhav

Shiv Sena MLA Bhaskar Jadhav has expressed a clear view that Shiv Sena should not leave the Ministerial seat for the post of Assembly Speaker. He has said that if Shiv Sena retains the ministerial post and gets the post of Assembly Speaker, then there is no problem in taking it.

"Seeing my performance in the two-day session of the Legislative Assembly, many leaders from all three parties feel that I will do well if I become Assembly Speaker. There is also an unofficial discussion on it," Jadhav said.

However, Jadhav has said that he is adamant that Shiv Sena should not leave the Forest Ministry for the post of Assembly Speaker.

This is Jadhav's personal view: Thorat

However, only Balasaheb Thorat from the MVA government commented on the matter. He said that the view of Bhaskar Jadhav about the Assembly Speaker is personal.

"It was decided that Congress will get the Assembly Speaker post. So, there is no possibility of any discussion about it," he added. The views of Bhaskar Jadhav about the post are personal, Thorat said.

MVA had no consensus on the Assembly Speaker: Fadnavis

If three parties in MVA had a consensus on the Assembly Speaker issue then Assembly Speaker would have been elected till now, said Leader of the Opposition Devendra Fadnavis while talking to reporters at Nagpur. He also wished good luck to Bhaskar Jadhav for the post of Assembly Speaker and expected that Jadhav should act impartially if he takes the charge of the post.
