Mumbai: At least four persons are feared trapped after a portion of a three-storey building in Nagpada area of south Mumbai collapsed on Thursday, the fire brigade
officials said.
The toilet block portion of the building on Shuklaji Street caved in around 1 pm, they said.
Five fire engines, a quick response vehicle and ambulances have reached the spot and the rescue operation is on, the officials said.
Soon after the incident, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister Jitendra Awhad along with MLA Amin Patel reached the spot and took cognisance of the matter.
Talking to the media, Awhad said that action would be taken against the culprits.
He added that the building was not owned by the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) but was given to a builder by the residents.
"An FIR will be lodged against the builder and action will be taken against him if found guilty," Awhad said.
