Chitrakoot (Madhya Pradesh): A rape victim, whose family was threatened by the alleged rapists, has committed suicide at Kharod Kemha Purva village under Manikpur police limits in Madhya Pradesh's Chitrakoot, said police on Wednesday.
The minor girl hanged herself in her room while other family members were away. She was gang-raped by some youths a few days ago.
She might have lost her mental balance after going through the ordeal and took the extreme step, sources said.
On the other hand, in view of the sensitivity of the case, the police have started the investigation process and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
However, the suicide of the survivor has shocked everyone in the state.
According to sources, the minor girl was returning home from nature's call when the accused forcibly took her to an isolated place and outraged her modesty on October 8. She was rescued in a critical condition.
