Satna (MP): The common man is not just suffering from coronavirus pandemic but also grieving over the hefty electricity bills they are receiving from various distribution companies.
A resident of Madhya Pradesh's Satna district has allegedly received an electricity bill of around 1.25 lakh rupees.
Tulsa Sodhiya, who works as a maid, has been running from pillar to post for getting it rectified but to no avail.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Sodhiya said that her electricity bill used to be around Rs 100-150.
"I have only one room where I use a fan and a light. How can the amount be so high? My electricity bill used to come around Rs 100-150. Now I have been receiving the bill of more than 1 lakh for the last three months, how will I pay such a large amount?" She said.
Sodhiya also approached the electricity department where she was allegedly told to pay the bill in order to continue the connection.
When asked about this, RK Pandey, an executive engineer of the electricity department, accepted that the department had got the complaint and said that it was because of some technical fault.
"This must be a technical fault. We will issue her an updated one after rectifying the technical fault in the system. This is no big deal. Technical faults do take place," he added.
