Indore: Minister for Tourism and Culture in Madhya Pradesh, Usha Thakur, who always grabs the headlines for her controversial remarks, has been spotted performing puja to ward off COVID-19 at Indore Airport on Friday.
In a video, Thakur has been seen while performing 'puja' before the statue of Devi Ahilya Bai Holkar. During the puja, the airport’s director Aryama Sanyas and other staff were also present.
She was performing puja without wearing the mask while other persons who were sitting with her were seen wearing masks.
Before this, Thakur has backed Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat over his controversial remarks on the "ripped jeans" of women. She said that it was a "bad omen in Indian culture" to wear torn clothes.
Significantly, the cases of corona are increasing continuously in Indore, Madhya Pradesh and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said the number of active COVID-19 cases in the state might reach one lakh by the end of this month given the spike in infection count.
Till Friday night, the number of active cases in Madhya Pradesh was 30,486, while its caseload reached 3,27,220.
