Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh government has ordered that only one government-run Covid centre will function in each district of the state and the rest will be closed in view of the improvement in the situation, official sources said.
However, going by the general trend and nature of the contagious virus, some experts have expressed concern, asking what if the infection number increases in the weeks to come, especially because of the on-going festive season.
They said during the festive season the cases could possibly increase and in that scenario, the decision to close the government-run Covid-19 centres may prove wrong.
Coronavirus figures in Madhya Pradesh are as follows: Total cases 1,79,068, death toll 3,042, recovered 1,67,877, active cases 8,149, number of people tested so far 32,02,500.
According to official sources, Bhopal has 1,761 active cases, while this figure for Indore is 1,707. Jabalpur and Gwalior have 515 and 543 active cases, respectively.
With 25,353 samples being tested in the state in the last 24 hours, the overall number of tests rose to 32.02 lakh.
