Minor rape victim reaches PS to file complaint, delivers baby

A 14-year-old minor girl who arrived at the Kundipura Police Station in Madhya Pradesh's Chhindwara district to file a complaint about rape, experienced labour pain and delivered a baby in the station. Both the child and mother are safe.

Chhindwara (Madhya Pradesh): A 14-year-old minor girl from Ghat Parasiya village who arrived at the Kundipura Police Station in the district to complain of being raped by a youth from the same village on the pretext of marrying her, experienced labour pains. Immediately, Purva Chourasia, the station in-charge and other female staff shifted the girl to a vacant room and helped her deliver the baby. The incident had reportedly taken place on Tuesday. After delivery at the police station, the police admitted the mother and child to the Chhindwara district hospital where both are safe.

According to the station in-charge, a youth from Ghat Parasiya village had raped the victim, bluffing her for the last 9 months that he would marry her. However, a few days back he refused to marry her, following which the victim decided to approach the police. On the complaint of the victim, the police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 376, 5, 6 and 4 including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
