Ratlam: Food Safety Department along with Ratlam police busted a factory which was involved in selling the expired cookies and cakes by repackaging it in Dilip Nagar area on Tuesday. Police have seized around 200 cartons of expired food material worth Rs 7 lakh.
The expiry date of this spoiled food material was changed to 2020 from 2018 and it was ready to get supplied into the market for consumption.
Acting on complaints, Ratlam SP Gaurav Tiwari carried out the operation.
A case has been registered against few miscreants under the Food Safety Act 2006 and a hunt is launched to nab the absconding factory owner.
Meanwhile, an investigation into the supply of these goods and other members of the racket is underway.
