Kamal Nath defends 'item' remark in reply to EC

In his reply submitted to Election commission over his item remark, Kamal Nath said that BJP has twisted his statement in order to divert the attention of people from issues and out of fear of defeat.

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Former Chief Minister Kamal Nath has submitted his reply to the Election Commission on the item remark. In his response, Kamal Nath has written that the BJP has twisted his statement.

Senior advocate and Rajya Sabha MP, Vivek Tankha has submitted a reply on behalf of Kamal Nath to the Election Commission.

In response, it has been written that Kamal Nath had made a statement without mentioning anyone's name; BJP has misrepresented his speech to divert attention from issues and out of fear of defeat.

In the last 40 years, Kamal Nath has been selflessly and impeccably serving the people.

He wrote in his tweet "Kamal Nath presented his reply to @ECI within the stipulated time frame. Stated that BJP tried to misrepresent the issue for fear of defeat. Also mentioned history of 40 years of impeccable public service. Certainly, @OfficeOfKNath is one among the chosen and senior leaders.”

Item Parliamentary term: Congress

On the other hand, Congress Law Cell official and spokesperson J.P. Dhanopia said that ‘item’ is a parliamentary term as the word ‘item’ is also used in the parliamentary language. Officer and spokesperson J.P. Dhanopia made this statement after the former Chief Minister Kamal Nath submitted his reply. He said that Kamal Nath had not used any wrong words. Item is a word that is also used in parliamentary language. The BJP has twisted and misrepresented the statement as part of a conspiracy to divert attention from the issues in the election. As BJP does not have any issue in the upcoming by-elections, they are twisting such statements.

Earlier, Kamal Nath had made a remark about BJP candidate Imarati Devi while addressing an election meeting in Dabra, Gwalior. After which the politics in the state has been heating up. And BJP is continuously demonstrating across the state.

The Central Election Commission had sought a detailed report from the Chief Electoral Officer of the state on the remarks made by former CM Kamal Nath against Imarati Devi during the election rally.

Also, the National Commission for Women has sent this matter to the Election Commission for necessary action. The Election Commission official said that by the time we got the message from NCW, we had already sought a detailed report from the Chief Electoral Officer of the state.
