Gwalior library to showcase original copy of Indian Constitution

The original copy of the constitution is put on display three times a year which includes Constitution Day, Republic Day and Independence Day. The library sets up a gallery to showcase the piece.

Gwalior: The Central library of the Gwalior houses the original bound copy of the Indian constitution since March 31, 1956. The priceless possession is one of the 16 original Indian constitutions that were being sent to different parts of the country.

The Madhya Pradesh's city takes extra pride in boasting about the antique copy, talking about which Library manager says, "It is a matter of our pride that we have the original copy of the Constitution."

"People from far and wide come to see it. This copy is special in many respects, its cover is gold inscribed and has a total of 231 pages. It mentions articles 344 to 351 of the constitution and also has the original signatures of 286 members of the Constituent Assembly including B. R. Ambedkar to Dr Rajendra Prasad and Feroze Gandhi.

At the beginning of every paragraph recorded in the original copy, there is a special symbolic picture. The students coming to see this say that it is a matter of pride for them that they are able to see the constitution on which our country runs.

If we look at the making of the Indian Constitution, then we find that ducting was formed in 1947 for the constitution framing on August 29. The constitution was fully drafted on November 26, 1949, almost 2 years later.

A total of 284 members were involved in the framing of the constitution. The Parliamentary Committee implemented the constitution on 26 January 1950. At that time its original copy was made, one of which is still kept in the central library of Gwalior.
