A relative of a Covid patient admitted to the Hamidia hospital, which is known to be one of the biggest hospitals in the city, complained of frequent power cuts at the facility.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, Lokesh Bhargav said that he complained about the issue to the hospital authorities but to no avail.

"My patient is admitted in the ICU whose oxygen level is continuously fluctuating. In such a situation, what will happen to the patient if there is a power cut? Doctors here say that they can't do anything to sort out this issue," he added.

He further accused the hospital staff of not taking proper care of patients saying that there is no one to ensure whether medicines have been administered to patients on time or not.

However, Jiten Shukla, dean of Gandhi Medical College told to ETV Bharat that there is a generator facility in the Hamidia hospital for backup in case of a power outage.

He further said that the hospital administration will make sure that the issue of frequent power outage will be sorted out soon.

The state on Thursday reported 8419 new cases of Covid-19 whereas the positivity rate dropped to 12.7%.
