Woman assaulted by mob over inter-caste love affair

A woman, involved in an inter-caste love affair with a man, whom she had eloped with, was assaulted by a mob in Alirajpur of Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday. The video of the act went viral on social media, where one can see the woman being beaten with a stick and paraded semi-naked on the road.

Alirajpur (Madhya Pradesh): A video of a woman brutally assaulted by a mob in Alirajpur of Madhya Pradesh went viral on social media.

According to sources, it is being alleged that the girl was beaten by the mob over an inter-caste love affair.

In the video, the group of people can be seen beating the woman with a stick and being paraded semi-naked on the streets.

"She was reportedly in love with a man, after which they both eloped. However, they were found by the villagers," police said on Tuesday.

A police officer said that the family members of the woman and residents of Temachi village were angry over her affair with the man, with whom she had eloped recently.

Superintendent of Police Vipul Srivastav said: "We got the video via social media and are trying to identify/find the girl with the help of the video. No one has filed a complaint in this regard."
