Valayar Issue: Meet the girl who painted 'frocks hanging from a tree'

Extending her support to the Valayar girls, a PG student from Kerala named Manji Charutha painted 'frocks hanging from trees' to create awareness among society against the laxity in administration and injustice. This particular painting became pivotal in the campaign for justice for Valayar sisters.

Kasargod (Kerala): Kerala is on rage against the death of Valayar tribal girls as people are organising protests for their sisters' justice. Associated with the campaign for Valayar sisters, the role of 'frocks hanging from trees' is pivotal.

Manji Charutha (Manjima), a resident from Puluvinchi area of Kasargod district is the person behind this idea which provoked the dormant society to wake up against the evil administration.

Manjima is a student from Payyannur college who is pursuing post-graduation in Malayalam and has expressed her feelings (on the Valayar issue) on a piece of paper while preparing for her examinations.

"The Valayar girls need justice, otherwise it is worthless that I have learned about democracy and free living in a democratic country," said Manjima, who uses Facebook to propagate her stance through writeups and paintings.

Through this way, Manjima demanded justice for the two girls who committed suicide at Valayar in Kerala's Palakkad.

The girls ended their lives, allegedly after they were sexually abused.

The Valayar girls incident had led to widespread protests across Kerala.

Protesters raised allegations of irresponsible investigation that failed to produce enough evidence in the court and the accused in the case were set free.

Many people applauded her stand over calls and she felt gratified as her attempt reached up to the mark in public.

Apart from this, Manjima also contributed money she received by selling her paintings to Kerala Chief Minister's Flood Relief fund during Kerala flood fury.

Manji Charutha (Manjima), a resident from Puluvinchi locality of Kasargod district is the creator of those frocks' which altered the selfish society to wake up against the evil administration. The student from Payyannur college pursuing post graduation in Malayalam has dropped out her agitation into the piece of paper while she was preparing for her PG exam. 



"The Valayar girls need justice, otherwise it is worthless that I have learned about democracy and living in a democratic country," said Manjima who always use facebook to propagate her stance through writeups and paintings. 



Many applauded her over phone including paling mothers and she is gratified because her attempt reached up to the public atleast . Moreover, Manjima also contributed many of her paintings into Kerala Chief Minister's Flood Relief fund.
