Kottayam: Many dream of owning a vehicle and most of the teenagers are passionate about it. Constrained by finance and young age, Sumith Sunil, a 17-year-old, ventured into making a bike on his own with materials from a scrap shop.
The teenager fond of vehicles since childhood made a ‘Cycle Bike' initially when he was in Class 10. A native of Vaikkom in Kottayam district of Kerala, the Plus Two student, was introduced to the field of vehicles by his father who is an auto driver. Right from the time he was a little child, Sunil was fascinated by vehicles. He had attempted to make one while he was in Class 10.

Later he experimented making a bike with an engine. He brought the engine and other parts of a Hero Honda bike from a scrap shop nearby. Using these parts, Sunil made a bike all by himself. The bike was made with Rs 10000 and took more than a month to complete.
As the bike functions on a motor engine, it cannot be taken on roads. The Vechoor Devi Vilasam School student aims to become a mechanical engineer when he grows up. He plans to alter the Engine Bike and is planning to make an electric bike model so that he can ride on the road once he gets a license.
