Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has imposed Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), which prohibits assembly of five or more people at a time, in ten districts of Kerala, with effect from today, due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases.
As there is a sudden hike in the Covid-19 positive cases in the districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Kozhikode, Malappuram, Alappuzha, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur, Kollam the district collectors have issued prohibitory orders which is valid till October 31st.
No more than five people are allowed to assemble in any places. No gathering will be allowed inside and outside containment zones.
20 people will be allowed to attend funerals while 50 people will be allowed to attend weddings.
Maximum of 20 people can take part in government, religious or political events. However, public transport will not be affected. Shops, banks and government establishments will remain open.

There will be no change in examinations. Any voluntary congregation of more than 5 people in public places is prohibited in districts.
The movement of persons in or out of containment zones will not be permitted except for medical emergencies and maintaining the supply of essential goods and services.
Essentials services like revenue, health, police, local self-government department, electricity, sanitation, and water supply allowed.
Public transport, government institutions, commercial establishments, industries, hospitals can function fully keeping Social distancing and break the chain protocols.
Kerala on Friday reported its highest single-day spike with 9,258 COVID-19 cases, taking the active tally of people infected with the virus in the state to 77,482.
The total number of coronavirus cases touched 1.50 lakh in the state on September 24 with the pace of the spread further increasing, prompting the government to warn of strict action against those not following preventive measures such as social distancing and wearing of masks.
Currently, at least 72,339 people are undergoing treatment for the infection, with over 2.43 lakh people under observation, including 30,258 in isolation wards of various hospitals in the state.
