Kochi: A priest was arrested on Sunday for reportedly sodomising young boys, who were inmates in a Boy's Home here, that was headed by the accused himself.
Father George, alias Jerry, 40, the Director of Perumpadom Boys Home, was arrested based on the complaints of parents of the young boys, an officer with the Palluruthy Police station told a news agency on condition of anonymity.
"Based on the complaints from the boys' parents, the priest was picked up and his arrest was recorded on Sunday morning," he said.
According to the complaints from the parents of seven boys, the priest had been abusing them for quite some time.
Local police have arrested George and charged him with Sections 377 (Unnatural offences) of the Indian Penal Code, 9D (aggravated sexual assault by a person in authority) of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) and 75 (punishment for cruelty to child) of the Juvenile Justice Act.
George has been remanded to 14 days judicial custody.
