Kannur: Migrant workers from a private cleaning service company in Kannur district of Kerala are protesting against alleged non-disbursement of salary and refusal of the employer to pay their dues.
According to reports, the workers, who are from Assam, staged a protest infront of a residency against the private cleaning service provider.
Besides, the migrant workers have also alleged that the company terminated their contracts and reportedly fired them without offering to pay the dues.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, a local resident said that workers contacted the residents in the area when the company refused to give them salary for the month of July and August.
"The company assured to reimburse their dues by August 30. However, after August 28, the employers took away the gas connection and other services provided to them, from their homes. They later informed that they could only provide for the air ticket for them to go back home," he said.
The room owners have reportedly asked the workers to vacate their rooms as early as possible.
