Maoist presence detected in Nilambur Forest; Kerala police on high alert

The Thunderbolt squad of the anti-Naxal police team has launched a combing operation to catch hold of the Maoists training in the Nilambur forest region in Palakkad. According to reports, a seven-member team of Maoists, seeing the Thunderbolt team, opened fire on them but in the retaliatory fire, three ultras were shot down and the rest managed to escape back into the forests.

Maoist presence detected in Nilambur Forest; Kerala police on high alert

Palakkad: Kerala police and the thunderbolt team are on high alert after receiving evidence regarding the presence of Maoist in the Nilambur forest. The police have also launched combing and search operation to catch hold of the Maoists.

The Maoists are up in arms against the Vijayan government for the shooting down of four Maoists in the deep forest ranges bordering the Palakkad and Malappuram districts last month.

The Vadakara police station had earlier received a letter which said that Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan would be dealt with, in the way he should be dealt with, as he was responsible for the death of total seven Maoists.

The Maoists have also threatened to eliminate Perambara Sub Inspector Harish for the way he is treating the people.

Earlier in the month, the Thunderbolt team of the Kerala Police eliminated three alleged Maoists, including a woman, after an exchange of fire in Kerala's Palakkad forest area.

The Thunderbolt team had gone for combing operations inside the forests after reports about the presence of Maoists there.

Malappuram: On a high alert of Maoist's counter- attack, ETV Bharat disclosed the visuals of Maoist training in Nilambur forest. Police confirmed their presence in the area before and the Thunderbolt with the Maoist Special Team has tightened their search inside the forest. The tribal people reported that they have seen four armed people in Karulayi Varayan hills. There is also a warning that the Kerala Chief Minister would also been attacked. 



On 24th November, it is the third year of two maoists death, who were gunned down in an encounter in 2016. The state is on thus high vigilant of maoist attack on upcoming days. Moreover, the security has strengthened in Nilambur and Vandur constituency deployed with maoist special squad, Thunderbolt alongwith 100 armed policemen after the Manjikkadu encounter in Palakkad. The maoist presence were observed in Varayan Mala(hill) last year also. Maoist central committee member Kuppu Devaraj and Ajita were killed in the 2016 attack.
