Alappuzha: Haridasan, a 45-year-old man from Pallippad village of Alappuzha district in Kerala was brought back home after he was brutally assaulted and tortured by his employer for seeking his salary dues.
The matter came to light when the accused man, working as a barber in Malaysia, was treated inhumanly by beating with a heated iron rod.
According to Haridasan's family, he was allegedly attacked when he asked for the salary dues.
"Based on information and pictures from Haridasan's friends in Malaysia, we came to know about the abuse he faced. I saw photographs of Haridasan inflicted with burns all over his body, " said his wife, who is the mother of two.
After seeing the pictures, we complained to the Superintendent of Police, Alappuzha and the Non-Resident Keralites Affairs (NORKA), the family said.
She further added, " The employer of Haridasan was so brutal that he did not let him talk to us for around half-a-month, just because he asked is due salary."
Haridasan went to Malaysia four years ago through an agent from Chingoli in Alappuzha who promised him a good pay package.
But, only after few months after the employer kept all the documents and passport, refused to pay the given salary. When after seven months, he asked, he was beaten up with a hot rod, said Haridasan's family.
After the government's intervention, on Monday, Haridasan came back. He informed police that another employee from Uttar Pradesh is facing similar torture from the Tamil Nadu native employer- based in Malaysia.
