Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police on Sunday arrested a man in relation with the abduction and gang rape of a minor girl in Kadinamkulam region of Thiruvananthapuram district. According to reports, the victim is a class 9 student and the incident came to light when the student failed to report back to the student's hostel.
The hostel warden reportedly filed a complaint following which the student was found and she gave an account of the incident. Niranjan (20) the accused is a resident of Puthukurichi in Kadinamkulam.
The victim, after leaving school was given a lift on a bike by her friend. Halfway through the journey, another man got on the bike with them. Even though the victim protested, her friend calmed her down claiming that the other man was a friend of his.
According to police, the two men took her to Varkala and she was allegedly raped by four men. The girl went missing on October 30th. The three remaining accused are also believed to be under arrest. The police have also taken into custody the bike used by the accused to kidnap the girl. The police team under Attingal DYSP is handling the investigation.
The accused have been booked under sections including relevant sections POCSO.
