Kozhikode: A man allegedly poured acid on a woman and stabbed her in Kerala's Karassery on Saturday around 6:30 pm, police said.

She has been admitted to the Kozhikode medical college hospital with serious injuries.

The accused is suspected to be the woman's estranged husband Subhas, police said.

The incident occurred when the woman working in a private firm was returning home.

A police team Mukkom police station has commenced search operation to nab him. No arrest has been made so far.

It is being suspected that accused has fled to Qatar.

Few months back, the couple went for a divorce after his wife alleged him of domestic violence.

The accused had gone abroad in connection with an attempt to stab the young woman with acid in Karassery near Kozhikode. The woman was seriously injured and is in critical condition. The incident happened at around 6.30 pm yesterday. The woman, who was returning from work in the afternoon, stabbed her ex-husband Subhash Acid in the leg.

He was pouring acid into the body of the lady of working as a receptionist in a private company. He was later stabbed with a knife. The locals dumped her in a nearby hospital for her life. Mukkam police reached the Kozhikode medical college and made statements of the victim. Subhash, who hails from Mavoor, went to the house of the police, but the family said that he was in Kuwait. Subhash had gone abroad after the crime. Relatives said Subhash had assaulted her several times when they were married. She recently got a divorce.
