Lockdown: Man creates coconut shell artefacts to raise funds for Kerala's COVID battle

A man in Kerala's Ernakulam district creates coconut shell artefacts during the lockdown period and plans to raise money by selling them and donating the amount to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Funds (CMDRF), Kerala.

Ernakulam: Pravi, from Ashokapuram in Aluva spends his time by handcrafting coconut shells and making sculptures ranging from Lord Ganapati to the Coronavirus during the lockdown.

Pravi, who works with the Kitex group, has also made the coconut shell sculpture of ‘Scooby’, an advertisement model for Kitex’s product Scooby day bags.

All these handcrafted sculptures were made as a leisure time activity during COVID lockdown period. Pravi plans to raise money by selling his coconut shell sculptures and contribute a part of it to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Funds (CMDRF), Kerala.

Son of Kannur Chanappara Thattamparambil Rajan and Thankamma, Pravi, has been living in Aluva for the past 12 years. His wife Dhanya and their daughter Devapriya support his handcraft works in all ways they can.
