Ernakulam (Kerala): Lakshadweep Filmmaker Aisha Sultana appeared before the Kavaratti police for questioning. Aisha Sultana arrived at the Kavaratti police headquarters with her lawyer. Kavaratti police in Lakshadweep had issued a notice under the sedition case. Aisha Sultana was granted interim anticipatory bail by the high court after being directed to appear before the police.
An FIR was registered against her by the Kavaratti police on sedition charges based on a complaint filed by BJP's Lakshadweep unit president C Abdul Khader Haji against Sultana for terming the Union territory’s administrator, Praful Khoda Patel, a 'biological weapon' in a TV debate. Kavaratti Police of Lakshadweep registered a case under section 124A and 153B of the IPC.
The Lakshadweep government had informed the court that it would make arrests if necessary. However, the High Court has ordered that Aisha be granted interim bail if she is arrested. Meanwhile, Aisha Sultana's anticipatory bail application has been shifted to the High Court for judgment.
