Kerala: Woman doctor stabbed to death on Wednesday, last rites scheduled at 2 pm today

A 24-year-old woman doctor, who was stabbed by a youth in Kottarakkara taluk hospital, died in Kollam District. The incident took place at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital in Kollam district around 4 am on Wednesday.

Kerala: Woman doctor stabbed to death on Wednesday, last rites scheduled at 2 pm today

Kottayam (Kerala): The 24-year-old woman doctor, who was stabbed to death by a youth in Kottarakkara taluk hospital, will be cremated on Thursday at around 2 pm. The mortal remains of the doctor were brought to her native home in Kottayam earlier on Wednesday. A woman doctor on duty at a government hospital in Kollam district was stabbed to death on May 10 by a school teacher who was brought to the facility for a medical examination by the Police. The incident took place at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital in Kollam district around 4 am on Wednesday. The deceased, Dr Vandana Das, a native of Kottayam, was stabbed more than five times in various parts, including in the chest.

Five people, including the doctor and a police officer, were stabbed in the attack. Sandeep used hospital scissors to stab her. Sandeep, who comes from Kollam Pooyapally, was arrested by the police in the incident. According to sources, Dr Vandana Das, a single child of her parents, was attacked when Sandeep was taken for medical examination.

The version of a police officer also pointed towards the attacker's unstable mind due to alcohol consumption. Sandeep, who was taken for a medical examination by the police after being involved in a fight with his family members, was being treated by Dr Vandana for his leg injury, an officer of Kottarakkara police station said. According to him, while the wound on the man's leg was being dressed by the doctor, he suddenly got provoked and attacked everyone standing there using a scissor and a scalpel. The police personnel who accompanied the man were also not spared by him. The doctor was rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram but could not be saved.
