Kannur: A physical education teacher was arrested on Saturday for allegedly sexually abusing several girl students in Payyavur region in Kannur district of Kerala.
According to reports, the accused, who has been on the run ever since the investigation was launched, was arrested by the police as he returned home.
The police said that minor girls, who were studying in various schools in Payyavur, were abused when they were attending the sports training. The event came to light when the victims opened up about the incident and the villagers called the child helpline number.
During a counseling session before the school staffer, it was revealed that they were abused by the teacher. The accused has been booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) and Juvenile Justice Acts.
