Vatakara (Kerala): Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) leader KK Rema, the wife of slain political leader TP Chandrashekar, took a "sweet revenge" on Sunday after she defeated the LDF candidate to win the Vatakara Assembly constituency.
Rema, who contested with the support of the United Democratic Front (UDF), defeated LDF candidate Manayath Chandran by a margin of 7,014 votes.

Rema’s RMPI was founded by her husband TP Chandrasekharan, popularly known as TP, in Kozhikode district after he parted ways with the CPM over ideological differences. In 2012, TP was hacked to death when he was riding on his motorcycle. Twelve people, including three CPM leaders, were convicted for the murder.
On the day of filing her nomination, Rema had openly declared that her fight was against the anti-people policies of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) government. Today, she dedicated her victory to her husband.
"I dedicate this victory to TP and this is a response to his cold-blooded murder," Rema told the media on Sunday after the victory.
