Kasaragod: The BJP is all revved up to win the Manjeshwar constituency in Kasaragod district of Kerala where it had lost from a meagre margin of 89 votes in the 2016 assembly elections.

This time, it is a prestige issue for the BJP and the party is all prepared to become victorious in the Tulu Nadu region trying to consolidate the votes from the language minority communities.

Soon after the processions led by the Left Front and the UDF started from Kasaragod across Kerala, BJP’s Vijaya Yathra led by the Party’s State president K Surendran is to follow suit with a clear message for the people of Kerala.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adithyanath will be inaugurating Surendran’s Vijaya Yathra.

Though the BJP candidate had lagged behind for more than 7000 votes during the by-election, the party is playing its cards carefully to avoid such possibilities for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Manjeshwar being a language minority region, Surendran, who is familiar with the constituency must be fielded here opines one faction within the party. However, one of the district leaders of the party considered the ‘regional’ fervour is more likely to contest against him.

BJP District president K Sreeshanth, North Zone (comprising 4 Northern districts) vice president Sathish Chandra Bhandari and former district president P Suresh Kumar Shetty are on the candidates’ list.

The Fashion Gold investment scam allegedly involving sitting MLA and Muslim League leader M C Kamaruddin and the failure encountered by the League in its traditional fortes are factors giving hope for the BJP. Along with the sure votes, if the BJP could consolidate the language minority votes, it will be a winning formula, hopes BJP.
