Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala): Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has rejected to make any statement in public with regards to the report of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) on the audit of modernisation of weapons in Kerala Police. He stated that reactions will be made after following complete procedure.
CAG report has maintained that 25 rifles and 12,061 live cartridges are missing from Special Armed Police Battalion (SAPB). The audit also observed that the Stock Register and related records of arms and ammunition in the SAPB were not properly maintained.
The report submitted by CAG also stated serious allegations against state police chief Loknath Behera finding a violation of the guidelines while buying bulletproof vehicles. Behera gave Rs 33 lakh for this without prior permission of the government, the CAG said.
"On Wednesday, I was responding to P T Thomas’ question in the Assembly. However, no letter has been received from the opposition leaders demanding an investigation into the CAG report," CM added.
Earlier, DGP Loknath Behra along with ADGP Manoj Abraham also met the Chief Minister at the Secretariat on the issue of the CAG report.
Meanwhile, extending his support to DGP Behra, CM Vijayan has refused to make a statement on the CAG reports against him adding that the CAG report will be examined later.
