Kannur: A Kerala student crafts Eiffel tower, the famous French monument, using coconut tree leaflet midribs- the thin, long sticks that we usually see in brooms.
Akshay from Pariyaram in Kannur, a mechanical engineering student with Payyannur CET Engineering College, is behind the amazing handicraft miniature model of Eiffel tower, made with coconut tree leaflet.
Akshay’s miniature Eiffel tower that he made during the COVID-19 lockdown period went viral on social media within minutes of it being posted, gaining much appreciation.

He started working with the midribs of coconut tree leaflets only during the free time he got owing to the COVID-19 lockdown. His first work using coconut tree leaflet midribs was a pyramid-shaped tower. Later, he made the Eiffel Tower. He took almost a month to complete the model of his house in his imagination. He even made a Temple miniature with the midribs.
Akshay is also good at fabric painting. Akshay’s parents, V Ratheeshan, a carpenter and E P Prabhavathi, and his sister Athira, a dancer, are all there to support Akshay’s interests.
