Kanhangad (Kerala): Arrangements have been done to transform the Payward into an isolation ward at Kanhangad district hospital for the Coronavirus infected patients here. The ward has been set up with all the necessary facilities for the treatment.
Addressing the Assembly, Health Minister KK Shailaja made the official confirmation of the third case of coronavirus in Kerala’s Kasaragod district, on Monday.
Health status of the medical student affected by the virus seems satisfactory. Reportedly, if the need arises, the patient will be shifted to Kannur Medical College. An ambulance has also been made available for this purpose.
Confirmation regarding the four other cases are pending and among the four, one is identified to be the classmate of the infected.
In Kasargod district itself, eighty people are under observation.
As of now, 140 samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology at Pune.
Of these, 36 have been tested negative, and three are positive.
It was on January 30th that the first positive case was confirmed in the country, in a patient who was in isolation at the Thrissur General Hospital.
On February 2nd, the second case was found positive.
The patient was by then already in isolation in a government hospital in Alappuzha.
