Pathanamthitta: Reshma Mariam Roy, aged 21 years, assumed office as the youngest Grama Panchayath President in Kerala. Reshma, who contested in the Left ticket, is the president of Aruvappulam Panchayath in Pathanamthitta district.
She won a majority of 70 votes from the Congress ‘monopolised’ ward 11 in Aruvappulam.
She turned 21, on November 18, 2020, and filed her nomination papers for the local body election the very next day.
Reshma, who has completed BBA from VNS College in Konni, Pathanamthitta, is a district committee member with the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), a district secretariat member of the Student Federation of India (SFI) and a branch committee member of the Communist Party of India Marxist (CPIM).
Reshma’s father Roy P Mathew is a timber merchant and her mother Mini Roy is a staff in Saint Stephen's College. She has a brother named Robin Mathew Roy.
