Chikballapur: A 35-year-old woman committed suicide in Karnataka's Chikballapur district on Saturday after her friend refused to sing a song with her in an online music app 'Smule'.
The incident took place at Girls School road near the town hall in Chikballapur.
The deceased is identified as Shilpa.
According to police, Shilpa was addicted to the singing app for years and used to upload a song daily in the app.
Police said, "As she was active in the app she had a lot of fan following. For some reason, her friend refused to sing the song today due to which it is alleged that she hanged herself in the house."
The deceased is survived with husband and two sons.
This is second death within two days in Karnataka due to addiction of such musical apps.
Earlier on August 27, two brothers lost their lives while filming a Tiktok video at the railway track in Karnataka's Bengaluru. An unknown man was also injured during the incident.
Recently, many such cases have been seen in different parts of the country. These apps take the internet by storm with a variety of short-form mobile videos. But when people lost their lives, it is no more fun but a deadly app.
