Mysuru: Mysuru police on Monday booked a woman along with two other men for allegedly creating fake documents of Sandalwood actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, Producer Umapathy Srinivas and a few of their friends, to cheat Harsha Melanta, a close aide of the actor, here.
According to police, the woman identified as Aruna Kumari has been taken into custody after Harsha Melanta filed a complaint of cheating and extortion against the three accused at Hebbal police station. Sources have informed that Aruna Kumari and the two men were blackmailing Harsha Melanta in the guise of bank officials a month ago.

According to Melanta, the three accused claimed that Darshan, who runs a hotel at Hebbal Industrial Area, had forged documents of Umapathy and others to obtain a loan of Rs 25 crore from a bank in Bengaluru. "Accusing Melanta in helping Darshan in creating fake documents of properties to obtain a loan, they demanded Rs 25 lakh from her for not lodging a complaint and leaking the news in media," police said.

Following this, Darshan and others filed their statements with the police. Darshan said that he has a record of WhatsApp chats of Umapathy and Aruna of April 8 which he has shown to the police. He claimed that there is no misunderstanding between him and the producer and they will cooperate with the investigation.
