Bengaluru police open fire on 2 rape accused

The Bengaluru police have arrested six Bangladesh nationals on charges of sexually assaulting a young woman in Bengaluru and uploading a video of their act on social media

Bengaluru: Within hours of the Assam Police posting screenshots of five people who allegedly sexually assaulted a young Bangladeshi woman in Bengaluru, the Bengaluru police on Thursday nabbed six accused involved in the case.

The police said all the six accused were citizens of Bangladesh.

While the accused were being taken to Channasandra near Kanaka Nagar for interrogation, two of them attempted to escape and attacked police officers. The police in return shot two men, Ridai Babu and Sagar, on their legs. They are undergoing treatment.

The police at Ramamurthy Nagar station said in a statement that the accused filmed their forced sexual act with the woman around 10 days ago. All the accused were involved in an international human trafficking racket, they said.
