Puttur (Karnataka): Residents of Adyalu area in Idkidu village of Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka have been facing constant struggle to acquire basic facilities as the village consisting of ten houses doesn't have a road for the last 50 years.
The residents of the area have been requesting government for a very long time to address their problem, however their voice seems to fall on deaf ears.
"The people here have appealed to the Prime Minister as well as Chief Minister to provide them a proper road facility. In fact the PM's office directed the gram panchayat to solve the problem. But no action has been taken so far. We had also approached former MLA but nothing really materialised," a villager said.
He also added that all voters of this village decided to boycott the assembly election last year, a banner in this regard was also put up. However, the then sub-divisional officers came to the area and asked villagers to change their decision as he promised that their grievances will be addressed soon.

"Elderly people, patients in need of medical help and students , all suffer because of the lack of road facility. Building new houses for us is impossible because we cannot bring necessary materials required for construction," the villager complained.
"Regardless of how much we apply and request, our demand for road construction is not met. Ambedkar Tatva Rakshana Forum gave their support to us. If our demands are not fulfilled again this time then we will protest in front of the Bantwal Taluk office in the next few days with the cooperation of Ambedkar Tatva Rakshana Forum," Poovappa Poojary, another villager added.
