Karnataka: Sri Vishveshateertha Swamiji of Pejwar Mutt of Krishna temple, has been conferred the Padma Vibhushan (Posthumous) Award for Spiritualism. He passed away on December 29, 2019.
Pejawar Swamiji was ordained into Sanyasa in 1938 under Guru Shri Vidyamanya Teertharu of Shri Bhandarkeri Math and Shri Palimaru Math.
He was the 32nd in the lineage of the Pejawar Math, starting from Sri Adhokshaja Teertharu, who was one of the direct disciples of Sri Madhvacharya.
He was also the honorary president of Vishva Tulu Sammelana. He had also established Poornaprajna Vidyapeetha in Bengaluru, which has completed over 63 years.
Born on April 27, 1931 Pejawar Swamiji was the second child of Narayanacharya and Srimati Kamalamma, a devout couple from Ramakunja. Swamiji assumed the first paryaya in 1954 and the historic fifth paryaya in January 18, 2016.
