Honeymoon on the beach with an unusual mission

Usually, a newly-wed couple gets ready for a honeymoon, but Anudeep Hegde and Minusha Kanchan have decided to pick garbage near Someshwara beach in Karnataka.

Udupi: Anudeep Hegde, working in a digital marketing company had married Minusha Kanchan, who is working in a pharmaceutical company. Both planned to do good work for the society and decided to send a message to the public through their work.

Couple postpone honeymoon to clean beach

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyan gave them the inspiration to take up cleaning work on the beach. Due to irresponsible tourists, the beach has become a garbage centre.

Anudeep, resident of Someshawara has decided to clean Someshwara beach before leaving for a honeymoon. After seeing their work, villagers had joined hands with them.

Anudeep Hegde tied the knot with Minusha Kanchan on November 18. After seeing the huge quantity of dry waste and plastic waste on the seashore, both postponed their honeymoon and decided to continue cleaning Someshwara beach for a few more days. The couple had collected more than 700 kg dry waste and nearly 500 kg plastic waste at Someshawara beach in 7 days.

Both spend nearly two hours daily to collect plastics and dry waste. After seeing their work, localities and NGOs have come forward to join hands. Now hundreds of people are helping clean up Someshwara beach.
