Bengaluru (Karnataka): More than 400 people have been arrested in connection with the violence that erupted during the anti-blasphemy protests in the city's DJ Haley area on August 11 last year including 195 under strict laws against the UAPA and others.
Charges have been levied for EPC sections.
In this regard, efforts are being made by the city's social organization Muslim Muttahida Mahaz and various lawyers to get the accused released.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Advocate Muhammad Tahir said that as a result of the efforts being made by his office, bail has been granted in 156 cases. He clarified that the guarantees being given in this case are related to the cases and not to the individuals.

Several social and human rights organizations have also prepared fact-finding reports on the violence, saying it is was a political conspiracy and that hundreds of innocent people have been implicated.
On the night of 11 August 2020, violent clashes took place in Bangalore, Karnataka. Provoked by an inflammatory Facebook post on Prophet Muhammad that was allegedly shared by the nephew of Congress MLA Srinivas Murthy, a Muslim mob arrived at his house in the protest which turned violent.
The clashes between the police and the mobs started around the residence of the legislator and spread to the police stations of KG Halli and DJ Halli. The incident resulted in the imposition of a curfew in the affected areas. Three people were killed after police opened fire on the crowds. Around 80 policemen and several journalists, were injured by armed assailants.
