Mangaluru: In a bid to create awareness on blood donation, a restaurant owner in a remote town in Mangaluru, Karnataka is offering a lip-smacking Biryani, free of cost, for all blood donors.
Ootada Mane Hotel at the Light House Road in the heart of the city serves the rice mixed dish to all, especially students who donate blood at the nearby KMC Hospital. All they have to do is show the receipt of donation given by the hospital, to hotel owner Abdullah to relish the tasty Biryani.
Speaking to ETV Bharat, Abdullah said the initiative was started six years ago when he spoke to some students of St Aloysius College nearby and motivated them to donate blood.
"When those students came for lunch the next day, I gave them a complementary Biryani. From that year onward I started the blood donation camp," Abdullah said.
Abdullah says that a lot of students from nearby colleges come for the camp held for a span of a week or ten days.

"The blood donated goes to the KMC blood bank. There is no monetary benefit for the restaurant. Only thing is we want to create awareness," Abdullah added.
Besides, the restaurant is decked up with posters of the blood donation camp from the past six years. Many patients reportedly approach Abdullah seeking donors and his initiative is serving the purpose of connecting donors with patients.
People like Abdullah are not only serving biryani but also serving humanity for a greater purpose.
