Chamarajanagar(Karnataka): A coconut seller from the Hanuru in Karnataka's Chamarajanagar district has adapted a "never give up" attitude even after losing his three fingers while working in a jaggery plant.
In the year 2000, Gopi, a resident of Hanuru district here, lost his three fingers while he was placing sugarcane in the machine in the Alemane (Jaggery production unit).
He faced many failures during his struggle period. His biscuits selling business suffered a great loss. In 2003, he started working in stone mine but, he didn't earn enough to meet the need of his family.
Six months later, he started a business of selling tender coconuts. Initially, it took him more than 20 minutes to cut a single coconut with his two fingers only, which disappointed his customers. But, his "never give up" attitude made him possible to cut down this timing a great deal. Within six months he becomes an expert in cutting a coconut with two fingers only.
Gopi has two children. One is a paramedical student, and the other is doing ITI in Chamarajanagar.
