Bengaluru: Income Tax officers on Wednesday raided several big medical college owners in Bengaluru and Mangaluru. Acting on complaints by other businessmen that some of these industry bigwigs and their organisations haven't paid taxes the raids are being conducted.
Raids were conducted at Sapthagiri Medical College near Sira gate in Tumakuru, BGS Gleneagles Global Hospitals near Kumbalagodu.
Simultaneously, Sridevi education institute in Tumkur, Sridevi Medical College, Engineering College, Diploma College and Huli Nayakar house in Someshwara was also under raid where IT officials have been constantly checking the files since morning.
IT officials attacked the medical colleges owned by KPCC treasurer Shamanuru Sivasankarappa.
File verification is underway at the three colleges in Davanagere owned by Shamanuru Sivasankarappa. A team of six IT officers attacked Davangere JJM, SS Medical College and Bapuji Dental College. The college is reviewing the admission of students and the fees collected by the college administration and the fees fixed by the government.

Officers unexpectedly visited some students and got information about fees. The team of IT officials from Goa and Belagavi involved in raid.
The officials also raided the home and office of two prominent businessmen in the city - A.J.Shetty, Yenepoya organisation owner Abdullah Kunhi
Akash Medical College near Prasannahalli, Devanahalli Town owned by businessman Muniraju was also raided where a team of 14 IT officers were deployed.
Muniraju owns a hospital, medical college, international school.
