Chikkamagaluru: A private hospital in Karnataka's Chikkamagaluru has given a discount of Re 1 over the bill of Rs 9,25,601 for medical expenses of a patient after he succumbed to coronavirus on Friday.
The 70-year-old COVID patient from Pillenahalli in Sakharayapatam of Kadur taluk was admitted to the hospital recently.
The family of the deceased lodged a complaint against the hospital administration to the District Collector.
The hospital is owned by a former Congress party district president.

After the incident came to light, many people have come out in the open against the exploitation of hospital administration on social media.
Family members have alleged that the hospital is charging hefty fees from them.
So far, Karnataka individually recorded 4,94,356 confirmed COVID cases with 1,03,631 confirmed cases, 3,83,077 recovered cases and 7,629 deaths.
In the past 24 hours, the state has recorded 9,366 new corona cases with 7,268 recoveries and 93 deaths.
