'Great Malnad Challenge' cycle rally held in Chikkamagaluru

The 'Great Malnad Challenge', organised by the Bengaluru-based ICYCLE.in team, aims to promote nature conservation and fitness. Cyclists will travel through Theguru, Baskal, Kannapur, Makonahalli, Jannapur, Jenu Bail and reach Devaramane.

Chikkamagaluru (Karnataka): Bike, Jeep or car rallies are usual. But cycle rallies are challenging. It requires the participant to be exceptionally fit.

The 'Great Malnad Challenge', organised by the Bengaluru-based ICYCLE.in team, is one such event which is currently underway on the off-road stretches between the scenic Chikkalagaluru and Kundapura.

The rally covers a distance of more than 500 kilometres. The rally was flagged off at Chikkamagalur on Monday morning. Cyclists will travel through Theguru, Baskal, Kannapur, Makonahalli, Jannapur, Jenu Bail and reach Devaramane.

The cyclists expect to cover the distance in seven days. En route to the final destination, the rally will pass through coffee plantations, mud roads, tar roads and slopes.

Over 30 cyclists are participating in the Great Malnad challenge this year. A number of cyclists from different states including women are taking part. Due to the Corona Pandemic, there are no foreign cyclists are participating this year.

The rally aims to promote nature conservation and fitness.
