'Grama Vastavya': Kumaraswamy stays at Govt School in Karegudda

Kumaraswamy's village home stays during his tenure as the Chief Minister of then JD (S)-BJP coalition government in 2006-07 was popular as the people could meet him freely and air their grievances.

Raichur: Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Wednesday stayed at a government school in Karegudda as a part of his village stay programme.

According to the officials, a huge pandal was erected for 'Janata Darshan' during his stay at the village.

The programme turned out to be a huge success as people from nearby villages also arrived in Karegudda to interact with the chief minister and share their grievances.

After the conclusion of the Janata Darshan programme, a cultural event was organised by the students of Manavi BVR school. Various students donning a Kumaraswamy mask was the main attraction of the programme.

'Grama Vastavya' (overnight stay in villages) is aimed at taking the administration to the people.

The Chief Minister stayed overnight in a government-run school and then at a farmer's home during the 2006-07 village stay programme.

Earlier, Kumaraswamy drove to Herur hamlet near Afzalpur in the adjacent Kalaburagi district for an overnight stay at a state-run school.

On June 28-29, the Chief Minister will stay at Basavakalyan in Bidar district and Sindanur in Raichur district in the state's northern region.

'Grama Vastavya' (overnight stay in villages) is aimed at taking administration to the people. 'Grama Vastavya' is a popular programme that Kumaraswamy had launched during his first stint as chief minister heading the BJP-JD(S) coalition government in 2006-07.
