BJP BL Santhosh attacks Congress on DK Shivakumar

New Delhi: National General Secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party BL Santhosh has made yet another attack on Congress after the arrest of its Karnataka leader DK Shivakumar.

"The then Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yediyurappa faces judicial trial and gets a clean chit. Never was democracy in danger. Now Congress leaders are under scrutiny. Democracy gets admitted to ICU. There is a limit Congis. Nation understands you perfectly Off late," Santhosh tweeted thereby establishing the difference on how Congress and BJP leaders face corruption charges.

The BJP has intensified its attack on Congress after the arrest of its Karnataka leader DK Shivakumar by the enforcement directorate.

It hopes that the arrest is expected to help further cement its image as an anti-corruption crusader.

Taking on the Congress, BJPs national general secretary organization BL Santhosh said, "The then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi submits himself to the notices of agencies, comes out untainted. The then Home Minister of Gujarat Amit Shah submits himself to the laws of the land and comes out unscathed."

This has come after Karnataka chief minister B S Yediyurappa reportedly told various news channels that he is not happy with the arrest and hopes Shivakumar to be released.

Shiv Kumar was arrested by the enforcement directorate on Tuesday evening from the national capital for his alleged involvement in shady financial transactions.

Shivakumar's arrest is a conspiracy by BJP: Gohil

New Delhi: Congress leader Shakti Singh Gohil has alleged that the BJP is responsible for DK Shivakumar's arrest in the money laundering case.

"The party has planned a political conspiracy in order to distract people's attention from the current economic status of the country.

Further accusing the BJP, Gohil said, "BJP is clearly misusing its power. It is trying to create an environment of fear by arresting Congress leaders," he said

The Congress party has maintained its stand by saying that the recent arrests of Congress leaders are just a cover-up for the failing policies of the government.

Shivkumar was admitted to the Ram Manohar Lohiya hospital after he fell ill while in custody.

When senior Congress leader K C Venugopal tried to meet him, he was denied permission after which, Congress leaders led a protest outside the hospital.

Probe agencies have "strong evidence" against Shivakumar: BJP

Bengaluru: The BJP on Wednesday said  investigating agencies have "strong evidence" against former Karnataka Minister D K Shivakumar and rejeced the Congress
charge of political vendetta behind his arrest.

It has now become fashionable for the Congress leaders to claim vendetta even when specific allegations or specific charges of financial misdemeanor, money laundering and all such financial crimes come to the fore, BJP national spokesperson G V L Narasimha Rao said.

Describing the Congress charges as "politically convenient statements" of the opposition party, he said the case of Shivakumar has been under probe for a very long time and agencies certainly have a strong evidence of his "financial bungling, financial misappropriation."

DK Shivakumar's arrest has drawn condemnation from several opposition parties including Congress and the JDS leaders, who alleged political vendetta by the BJP-led government at the Centre.
